While it completely depends on the individual child, it is generally recommended that ages 12-to 14-years-old is the proper age to begin the sport of paintball. Most children at that age are able to understand and abide by the safety rules while still enjoying the game and not overreacting to getting hit.

Players as young as 9 years old can play
With typical paintball, the minimum age to play would be 12 years old, with low impact paintball, players as young as 9 years old can now enjoy the same game.
It’s very common for players to feel a slight sting, similar to a firm flick on the arm. The pain is minor and typically fades quickly. While most hits are insignificant, a paintball can cause bruises and welts. The severity depends on the speed of the ball, the distance the ball travels, and where it hits your body.
While it’s not completely pain-free, once the game begins and the adrenaline is pumping, you’ll most likely not even notice you’ve been hit, and if you do you’ll just have to make sure it doesn’t happen again next time!
Most states in America require you to be at least 12 years old to play paintball. In some states, like Texas, you must be 14 to play paintball. The minimum age for paintball is often set at 12 years old, and the maximum age is often set at 18. Because if you choose to play paintball seriously, you’ll get injured.
Mini paintball is for 8-11 year olds and they will be provided with smaller lighter and less powerful guns. They will also be provided with extra protection, a full head mask, front and back chest protector and gloves. The mini paintball sessions last for 2hours where they will play a minimum of 3 game zones.
Most paintball facilities require that the minimum age of all players be 10 years old on the date of play.
Paintball Lite is for players aged 7-12 years old (with the exception being, a private group of 15 or more players). These games are designed with the younger player in mind.
